Today was awesome! God is definitely working here in Malaysia. It is so exciting to see the months of preparation and prayer finally coming to fruition. This morning we conducted two services at FBC. Both services were incredible. Some said it seemed as if many people could have continued worshiping even after the close of the service.
Pastor Tim’s sermon was based upon Philippians 2:1-11. He emphasized the fact that we must be “on mission” with Christ. What is our mission? Worship. We were created to worship. Mission efforts exist because there are people in the world that are not worshiping God.
Tim discussed four topics:
- Our Objective - Which is worship.
- Threats to our mission: Mainly an inward focus leading to selfish ambition. This can cause dissension within the church when varied opinions clash. Verse
- The risks we must be willing to take with Christ as our example.
- Our strategy: surrender of our rights, comfort (or location), and will. (v. 6-8)
What is the reason for all of this? It is all “to the glory of God the Father.” (v. 11)
After church we ate lunch and after a brief respite proceeded to Charas Baptist Church. Upon arrival we began to prepare for the worship concert that was to occur in a few hours. Everything went well, however, many were rushing around at the last minute completing various tasks.
The worship concert was incredible. Even though I was operating the computer, worship was awesome. It great to be able to participate in such an event. As Kenny said, “It was a taste of heaven.” A majority of the congregation was actively participating and obviously serious about glorifying God through song. They even asked for an encore of Days of Elijah!
After leaving Charas, we were following Michelle back to our Bed & Breakfast when we were separated on the freeway. As a result, we all feared that we were hopelessly lost. However, our fearless leader (and driver) Kenny was able to bring us safely home (with a little help from Rodney) in under 45 minutes. When you make a wrong turn in Malaysia, it takes quite awhile to fix it!
